The aircraft is still owned by the US Air Force. Aircraft 81-5344 is one of three MAP T-33s loaned to Japan that were returned to the US Government when they were phased out of service. All three aircraft ( 81-5344; 71-5297; 91-5399) were returned to the US Air Force at Misawa AB, Japan on 9 June 2002. 81-5344 was loaned to the newly established Misawa Aviation and Science Museum for display. The aircraft wears the markings it had at the time its service with the Japanese Air Self Defense Forces ended.
