This aircraft was built as C-53D 42-68823 and delivered to USAAF on 6/29/43. It was assigned to the European theatre with the U.S. 8th A.F. on 10/8/43. It was placed in storage 1/1/48 at USAF storage depot at Oberpfaffenhofen, West Germany. After going to Foreign Liquidation Commission, it was sold to Finland on 6/14/48 as OH-LCG, operating with Finnair. On 6/19/48 the plane was named “Perhonen.” On 6/18/69 it was sold to the Finnish Air Force, being registered as DO-9 and served until Jan 1985 when it was sold to Nordic Air Service of Norway, although not registered there. On 4/19/85 the plane was registered G-BLYA to Aces High Limited, but the registration was not taken up and was cancelled on 4/25/85. It was then registered N59NA on 5/2/85 to Northern Airways, South Burlington, VT. Over the next few years the plane changed hands a few more times before being de-registered and transferred Norway and now operating as LN-WND.
