Vicki Cruse died in the crash of a borrowed Zivco Edge 540 on Saturday, 22 August 2009 during qualifying trials at the World Aerobatics Championships in Great Britain at the Silverstone motor racing circuit and aerodrome. She was 41.

Vicki was the US National Unlimited Aerobatics Champion in 2007 and a member of the US Aerobatic Team for four years. She was President of the International Aerobatics Club, and a member of the Ventura County Ninety-Nines, a local branch of the International Organization of Women Pilots.
