This aircraft was originally owned by Deutche Lufthansa airlines and maintained as primary transportation by its chief pilot. It was subsequently sold to an American Pilot, George Phocas, living in London at the time. He based it at Peine, then the closest airfield to the East German border, which was tightly controlled by both East German and Russian forces.his was a touchy time, and as an American Reserve Officer, at the time on active duty, a jolly time was enjoyed by all involved.
