Prior to its conversion by McKinnon in 1969, it had been registered as TF-ISR in Iceland (Grumman JRF-5 s/n B-62, ex-USN BuNo. 37809) and was initially registered in the US again as N5558. When it became N5558 on Oct. 23, 1967, it was improperly identified as Grumman s/n "B-1062" - apparently confusing G-21A s/n 1062 with JRF-5 s/n B-62 but per ATC-654, the only valid Grumman serial numbers for the G-21 series are 1001 through 1200 and B-1 through B-145. Even after its turbine conversion into a McKinnon model G-21G in 1969, it remained registered as N5558 until 1980, when it went "down under" to New Zealand and became ZK-ERX. It finally became N77AQ in 1984 after coming back to the US.
