8 AUG 2012 - Alaska Airlines Flight 539 from Ontario, Calif., was en route to Seattle when the Boeing 737-400 aircraft experienced problems while climbing to cruising altitude, the Seattle-based airline confirmed.
"The crew also had to manually pressurize the cabin," Alaska Airlines spokesperson Bobbie Egan told NBC News in an e-mail. Egan said the oxygen masks did not deploy.
The plane was lowered to 10,000 feet and diverted to San Jose, Calif. The flight, with 131 passengers and five crewmembers onboard, landed safely at 7:48 a.m. PT.
