Hello,
I built N98LM with my father, 99% built from scratch to include replicating the machine gun. Took appx 7 years to build. Completed and test flown August 10, 1982. Original Registration No. N2RF, i.e., our initials and the 2nd aircraft we built. The 1st being the Nesmith Cougar, N1112, small write up and picture EAA Sport Avaition April 71. The Sopwith is in the May 1983 Sport Aviation - article " Blue Max to Reality. The Pup is 3/4 scale using a Le Blond 85 H.P. 5 Cyl Radial. My Father did the test hop and I flew it shortly after...I grew up on J-3s, 11ACs and several other tailwheel planes The Pup was a joy to fly and unique with an actual rudder bar, the Le Blond radial and all that parasite drag!! I live in MD and I hope to get down to VA to see the plane again!
