Hawker Hunter WB188 became Instructional Airframe 7154 at the No.1 School of Technican Training at RAF Halton going on to become the gate guard at RAF Melksham and then RAF Abingdon. Moving on to RAF Colerne and then RAF St Athan the next location for the aircraft was the RAF Cosford Museum. In 1992 the museum loaned this historic aircraft to the Tangemere Military Aviation Museum Museum.

WB 188 was the prototype Hunter, the Hawker P.1067. It flew for the first time on July 20, 1951 with Squadron Leader Neville Duke DSO DFC, Hawker’s Chief Test Pilot at the controls. Following modifications, flying from RAF Tangmere on 7 September 1953 Squadron Leader achieved a world record speed of 727.63 miles per hour with this aircraft.

WB 188 now resides in the Tangmere Military Aviation Museum, West Sussex.
